Meet The Softball Coaches

Candyce Carter
My name is Candyce Carter, and I’m proud to serve as the Head Softball Coach at Lake Creek High School. I’ve been coaching and teaching for nine years, starting my career at the collegiate level with ULM and McNeese State. I played college softball at San Jacinto College and Lamar University before earning my master’s degree from McNeese State. I came to Montgomery to be closer to family and was given an incredible opportunity to join the continued success of Lake Creek Softball. I’m now entering my fourth year at the helm and have truly enjoyed every minute of leading this program and watching our athletes grow both on and off the field.

Outside of coaching, I’m engaged to my fiancé, Olivia, who is also a teacher and coach in Conroe ISD. Our shared passion for education and athletics runs deep — it’s something that started with our dads and has continued through us, shaping who we are as coaches and people. My family is also very involved in Lake Creek Softball; you’ll often see my sister and brother-in-law chasing Reagan and Carson around the field, or my mom baking (way too many) cookies for our team — which the girls can never wait to eat! I am lucky to have such a great support system who loves Lake Creek as much as I do! Geaux Lions!

I’m so excited to begin my 4th year coaching and my second year with the Lion family at Lake Creek! My coaching journey has taken me from Virginia to Willis, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue growing both professionally and personally in this incredible program.

At San Jacinto, I played alongside Coach Carter, whose leadership and passion for the game made a lasting impact on me as a player. It’s truly an honor to now coach beside her and continue learning from her both on and off the field. I earned my degree in Health and Human Performance from Cumberland University, where I had the privilege of playing softball.

In addition to school ball, I’ve spent several years coaching travel softball, helping athletes develop their skills both on and off the field. My greatest inspiration, though, comes from my three amazing kids—Jenson, Cyler, and our newest addition, Rhlynn. They are my motivation and my reminder of why I love this game.

As I head into my second year at Lake Creek, I’m looking forward to another exciting season and am so thankful to be part of such a passionate and driven team. Let’s go Lions!

This is my 7th year coaching and teaching at Lake Creek High School, my 8th year in education, and my 2nd year with the softball program. I also coach the Wide Receivers for the football team and spent five years as a part of the Lake Creek baseball coaching staff. I am also the huddle coach for Lake Creek's Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Prior to my time at LCHS, I taught 7th grade Language Arts and coached at McCullough Junior High in The Woodlands. Before coaching and teaching, I attended Texas A&M University where I received my bachelor's degree in English, minor in Kinesiology, and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
I have been married to my wife, Erin, for 4 years. Together we have a beautiful baby girl, Mia (3), who you have probably seen "doing cheers" with the Lake Creek cheerleaders at our football games. We also have two dogs and a cat.
Getting to be a part of the Lake Creek High School community has been a blessing to my family. We are extremely excited to continue being a part of the storied Lions Softball Program, and I look forward to continuing the success and winning traditions for years to come!
